Photo of Earth by Nasa? Nope. Astroengineering.
Is this a photo of Earth by Nasa? Nope. In this artist’s conception, the Moon is geoengineered/astroengineering by an advanced civilization to be more like Earth. Will inducing artificial earthquakes through geoengineering or someday save lives, or is it too dangerous? Will we someday geoengineer the and the stars, as discussed on recent science documentaries? These were discussed in our earlier blog post on fracking and geoengineering, for which this was the featured image. Oh where are the trolls? There aren’t any trolls….
Send in the trolls…. Oh where are the trolls…. (With apologies to Stephen Sondheim) Our Miley Cyrus SQL Server Hadoop article got trolled on Twitter today. And we thought ‘yes! Finally! A troll.’ Then it turned out he had no Twitter readership. We admit there was a problem with the article. We didn’t list the fact that some people think Miley Cyrus and using SQL Server together with Hadoop are both somewhat messed up. Mea culpa. (Also, we did not come down nearly hard enough on Microsoft. The article goes on endlessly with its tepid praise for SQL Server. If you can’t afford Oracle and need an top-of-line SQL solution it is actually quite a cost effective solution. If you can afford the risk of running Windows, that is. Mainly we attack MySQL. We thought that we’d at least get some MySQL fans trolling us. No, some random Microsoft type apparently thought their honor had been grievously offended with our insufficient praise of Redmond.)… Read the restGeoengineering and Terraforming Artificial Earthquakes Through Fracking to Save Lives?
Geoengineering Artificial Earthquakes to Save Lives? This blog has focused primarily on practical solutions to the problems of PM2.5 air quality pollution. Things like inexpensive dust particulate sensors for your home, ultra-cheap DIY air purifiers made from duct tape. We’ve run a fashion section with inexpensive masks that are handy to keep stockpiled not only for air pollution and wildfires but also in case of Ebola and Bird Flu panics (both happening at this writing). We just wrote a blog article on big data analysis of earthquakes, and recommended only the cheapest and most-practical immediate crowdsourcing solutions. Can Artificial Earthquakes Save Lives? Click To Tweet But frequent readers will not that we have not been afraid to speculate or address controversial topics. We know of no other corporate blogs that discuss geoengineering, astroengineering, or terraforming. (If you know of one, get in touch.) If we don’t do it, who will?
