Hoag’s object is a non-typical ring galaxy. Our original IG post (and a longer version on our blog) talked about Kardashev’s ideas on what a type III civilization might look like, and how it might use galaxies for energy. To which we added the newly appreciated relationship between information and energy (or rather energy gradients and entropy), ideas that have become more popular with theories such as the holographic universe, and causal fermion system.
