Collage progression glitch VR fashion
Collage progression of glitch art variations of our earlier Virtual Reality fashion feed photo. As we mentioned earlier (on our IG feed), various algorithms can create all sorts of Andy Warhol-style Pop Art effects on the images, including the psychedelic one. The last photo on the bottom right was to date the all-time most popular photo ever on our Instagram feed by a wide margin. Any guesses as to which databend glitch techniques were applied here? A version of this article originally appeared as a photo post on our Instagram feed. (more…)… Read the restVirtual Fashion Shoot: Acculation Fashion Line (VR data #glamour)
This time, our data-driven decisions have led us to glamour, our own clothing line, and this VR virtual fashion shoot. Who says big data analytics have to be boring? First, some background on what got us here. Remember that, umm, ‘marketeer’ who suggested (in a comment on our IG feed) that we drop data science (one of the hottest fields at the moment) and instead sell his clothing? The comment was likely automated, but we had fun with it anyway. We told him we were too busy working on our perfume line. (“Data science: the new fragrance for men.”) But then we realized — technology exists to turn our IG feed (and the photo posts on this blog) into a fashion collection. So we wanted to do a fashion shoot. But models can be hard to work with. (They got agents, and, uggg, what a hassle. We live in LA, so we know.)… Read the restVR Data Preservation: Is this dutch masterpiece painting really a 400-year old photograph made by a human?
Coming back to our earlier posts on data modeling of the impacts of investment in world literacy (represented by another 400-year-old dutch masterpiece painting of a schoolhouse) and 3D-digital big data preservation of the Buddha destroyed by the Taliban (also related to literacy as we’ll discuss in the future), we wanted to circle back around and discuss just the data and Virtual Reality aspects of these dutch masterpieces themselves. Texas inventor Tim Jenison noticed that the Dutch master artist Vermeer had perfectly captured the pattern of light dappling in the background, although this cannot be seen by an unaided human eye. (Although you can see the light is dappled, your brain still reinterprets most of the shading as a flat surface with a single color, preventing you from seeing the subtle variations of grading. To get exact shades as perfect as in the painting, Jenison feels an optical device must have been used the obscures most of the image, so that each the shade in each ‘pixel’ can be matched exactly by the painter.… Read the restBrainwave and Virtual Touchscreen Controllers for Smartwatches
This article was originally published by Acculation on another site. Need for new interfaces With Moore’s law shrinking your desktop down to the size of your smartwatch or a future Google Glass knockoff, a lot of ingenuity is going to go into human interfaces that will allow wearables like smartwatches smartwatch and VR and augmented reality glasses (Google Glass) to run your favorite killer apps. We’ve already seen some of this with smartphones touch screens, multi-touch gestures, and, to a lesser extent, speech recognition largely replacing mice and traditional keyboards. If we want to make the form factor even smaller, touch screens become more limiting. Google Glass (and some of its knockoffs) have a touch sensitive panel on one side for more complex inputs, but Glass is intended to be primarily controlled through gaze and voice recognition. A smartwatch doesn’t have the option of gaze recognition (unless it’s linked to Glass, which may turn out to be a commonplace arrangement), so, at least with current technologies, we’re back to (tiny) touchscreens and voice recognition.… Read the restRecent Comments
