Glitched Ada Lovelace Collage
Encore glitched version of countess Ada Lovelace and her 19th century early mechanical computer. This was one of our most popular sets of photos ever (and who could resist a Countess, daughter of Lord Byron who has the Princess Leia hairstyle and is considered the first computer programmer? The programming language Ada is named after her.) So, of course, we had to do some encore glitch pop art versions. This is one of the collages. This is Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, today known simply as Ada Lovelace (Wikipedia). This is an 1838 portrait of her by Margaret Sarah Carpenter. Ada is a famous steampunk for a couple of reasons: the sole legitimate child of the poet Lord Byron. Lovelace was also an avid mathematician. For her work on the difference engine, an early mechanical computer in the 19th century, she is also commonly credited as the first computer programmer. The Hyetis Crossbow has just gone on presale at this writing, and we’re sure this will hybrid smartwatch combined with traditional mechanical watch will peak the interest of some of our readers. We’ve previously written about the coming smartwatch revolution. Swiss watchmakers, of course, feel the need to modernize. Computer are getting smaller thanks to Moore’s law. That means that your future smartwatch will eventually be as powerful as today’s desktops (and have killers apps to boot). Every major manufacturing (Apple, Dell, Microsoft, Google) has announced plans to come out with one. A smartwatch is infinitely more practical, often lighter, and tells time much better than one of these “traditional” Swiss automatic chronometers. (Which are 1930s technology, cost hundreds or thousands more than a smartwatch, don’t have atomic/network time, and are heavy.)
